Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op line crews continue to make progress and so far, have restored a predicted 10,701 outages since Saturday afternoon when several rounds of severe thunderstorms came through northern Michigan. Currently there are approximately 1,223 services still without power across PIE&G’s nine-county service area. The largest number of outages were in Cheboygan and Presque Isle counties.

Removal of fallen trees and repair or replacement of broken poles will extend restoration times of some services into Tuesday. Members currently without power should make preparations to be without power until tomorrow.  All available personnel are working diligently to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.  Mutual aid crews from Wolverine Power Cooperative of Cadillac, Traverse City Light & Power, and HomeWorks Tri-County Electric Cooperative of Portland are assisting PIE&G crews, along with contract crews.

Members should contact PIE&G at (800) 423-6634 to report power outages and any downed power lines.  Everyone is cautioned to stay at least 25 feet away from any downed wires and to report them immediately to PIE&G, 911 or a local law enforcement agency.
