Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op crews continue working to restore power outages to members affected by several rounds of severe storms yesterday and early this morning in northern Michigan. So far, PIE&G has restored approximately 15,100 outages that were predicted since yesterday, and there are currently about 2,050 services that are still without power this evening.  Outages were reported across PIE&G’s nine-county service area, but the largest number occurred in Cheboygan and Presque Isle counties.

Due to the extent of tree and line damage, and the significant number of broken poles, PIE&G expects that some repairs will continue into Monday and Tuesday. Members currently without power should make preparations to be without power for several days.  All available personnel are working again tonight to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.  PIE&G crews have help from mutual aid crews and contractors, including Wolverine Power Cooperative of Cadillac, Traverse City Light & Power, and HomeWorks Tri-County Electric Cooperative of Portland, MI.

Members should contact PIE&G immediately at (800) 423-6634 to report power outages or any downed power lines.  Residents are cautioned to stay at least 25 feet away from any downed wires and to report them immediately to PIE&G, 911 or a local law enforcement agency.
