2 pm Outage Update 12/6/17
Line crews for Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op continue to make progress, having restored approximately 9,877 services since yesterday morning. Current estimates show 2,024 services without power. Of this number, 494 services are on Bois Blanc Island, most of which are seasonal homes. PIE&G has scheduled a crew for the island ferry for Thursday morning, weather and lake conditions permitting. Sustained gale-force winds caused catastrophic outages across the state yesterday, including all counties in PIE&G’s service territory in northeast Michigan.
PIE&G is aware of at least twelve (12) broken poles with widespread tree and line damage. Winter weather may contribute to additional outages and longer repair times. Wolverine Power’s four crews have been assisting since yesterday.
PIE&G anticipates that most repairs on larger circuits should be completed sometime late today but service to smaller and individual circuits will not be restored until Thursday, Dec. 7. Members who are currently without power should prepare to be without power for another day. Current conditions should be available on our outage map at pieg.com.
