11 am Update to Wind Outages
Winds reaching over 50 mph on Wednesday caused approximately 9,192 power outages for Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op (PIE&G) members. Crews have restored 7,563 services so far, but continued strong winds expected until 7 p.m. are causing more outages today. Approximately 1,629 services throughout PIE&G’s service area are without power this morning.
Crews from Wolverine Power, Homeworks Tri-County, Zeeland, and outside tree contractors are assisting PIE&G to safely restore power to as many services as possible today. Due to continued high winds and worsening weather, the need for tree removals and additional time and special equipment required to access and replace broken poles, some outages will extend into Thursday, March 9. Members are advised to plan accordingly.
Members should contact PIE&G immediately at (800) 423-6634 to report new power outages or any downed power lines. Residents are cautioned to stay at least 25 feet away from any downed wires and to report them immediately to PIE&G or a local law enforcement agency.
